Lasts weeks in Ireland

Hi all,

Just a small update about the past (&last!) weeks in ireland. Yes...time flies!! I am supposed to be in London right now, but due to this nice volcano ash i came out of bed at 4.30am for nothing and am back in beautiful Blackrock. Flights for tomorrow were (obviously!) all full, so guess i will have to postpone this trip...

Anyways, the nicest trip from the past weeks was Northern Ireland. César came here for a week, and of course... we had the worst weather we have had in the entire semester... 24/7 raining like crazy! Fortunately,it got slightly better and we could at least do some sightseeing. We had a great time in Dublin and then went for the weekend to Northern Ireland. Belfast was pretty impressive, however a bit a sad city actually. We did a black taxi tour through the protestant & catholic neighbourhoods and this was very interesting. The taxi driver grew up himself during the troubles so he knew all about it and loved to tell his story. Very impressive! Being in those neighboorhouds was pretty weird, a bit frightening actually! However, the tour was definitely the best part of the city... Rest was, like i said, a bit sad and also the people were 'different'. All girls were coloured orange (with stripes!) from the weird make-up/fake tan and there were heaps of teen mothers. The day after we left with a big tourbus on a north coast tour and this was just amazing. Very nice landscapes! Weather was still rainy but wet is wet, so we had to get over it . The highlight of the tour was the Giant's Causeway, one of the biggest natural wonders in the UK. There we also met with a friend of César from Australia which he hadnt seen for years.

The week after César left, it was time for the Irish Hockey Cup final which we won big time . 4-0, so we really crushed them. Really cool!

Well, now the lasts weeks at uni (believe it or not, it's even getting busy with all the deadlines!) and then the Irish adventure is already over... Will fly back on the 11th of May, however will make a pitstop in Louvain-la-Neuve to visit Veer before getting back to NL.

For the peoples who didnt get the news yet: after coming back I will stay for a while in Holland instead of doing the international internship as i was supposed to do. Have got a really cool offer for an internship in Amsterdam (at Google!) so have decided to postpone the rest .
